However, apart from being good for detoxification and cleansing, it can also turn salads, desserts, bakes and juices into delicious, lively culinary delights. I have used ginger roots for years and it's benefits are undeniable...especially for colds, coughs, so on.
1 to 2 teaspoon grated ginger 
1 teaspoon cinnamon, 
4 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon brown flax seed.
Fill with 2 liters of hot water..shake well...wait about 5 min...strain. 
Put in fridge...drink during the day...
It definitely shortens a cold or flue virus for me...
I also put it in smoothies; Grated Ginger, berries, yogurt, banana, kiwi,, honey, fruit juice or milk.
My eye sight got better, solves constipation, again, colds or flue easier to bare and shortens it's time.
This works for me, hope it does for you also, all natural, less chemical dependency, but...always be aware if not sure, talk to your doctor...
We are a species born with our natural surroundings, (Nature) too many chemicals in our bodies is very bad, you might risk healing one while getting another.
