Canada, We remember a time when this would never have been said about us...and never have done this to our own.

Harper's Bizarre
The aforementioned is especially true if you consider and poll the country's citizenry. Ask any Canadian about foreign affairs. Any number would be quick to point out that Canada excels and takes pride in their international peace-keeping missions. In every town, ordinary 'Joes' relish the role. Without question, Canadians today are quick to mobilize and respond in kind to any international crisis: be it a natural disaster or political turmoil in volatile regions. Any ex-serviceman Canadian will cite Cyprus; alternatively, the Golan Heights in the Middle East come to mind. More recent examples of Canadians as rapid first responders are Haiti, Japan and the Philippines. The list goes on...

Canadians don't learn any of those events. And why would they? For sure, they're not given a chance. Who needs to know facts? Instead, their media feeds them a fluff based dumbed-down daily diet, 24/7. All that Canadians ever hear from the major 'news' networks is glib talk: What new folly did Toronto's embattled Mayor Rob Ford commit now? Would Justin Bieber's latest clash with U.S. Law Officers get him deported? Since February, while more knowledgeable experts warned that Ukraine in crisis possibly was a global flash point that could trigger a wider, thermal nuclear conflict, the Canadian media chose a much more benign tack: to opine ad nauseam daily and with grave concern about the need to locate the final resting place of flight MLH370.  Oh Brother...

As much as I would like to think that Canada's official hostile and aggressive position towards Russia regarding Ukraine will change to a more conciliatory, rational and civil approach, I don't hold out much hope. Harper so far, has eschewed earnest debate through honest in person dialogue with all parties, including Russia. And he shows no signs of extricating himself from his current preference: punitive economic sanctions, followed by a steady barrage of guns, cannons, and guided missiles to settle old and new political scores. The fact is: Harper's up for re-election. The national polls will open in less than a year. No doubt, Harper will toe the party line. That really means following in lock-step the expanding/shifty line already drawn (a.k.a. Asia Pivot) by the U.S. led NATO, IMF and EU backed alliance against Russia from all sides; not just from Ukraine.

Here we have what the state calls multi-issued extremists..

------------------------------

If anyone has ever been to the province of Quebec, and had a run in with it's police force, whether in demonstrations or otherwise, you know damn well they can be extremely vicious and your rights don't matter one bit to them, it's their way or else...
During the Oka crisis, they would go after women, beating them, to try to demoralize the Warriors into giving up, but to their surprise, the Mohawk women where tougher than the men. In one instance, they would pretend to advance on one position, while another group would go in another area to attack the Elderly, women and children.
In 1970's during the flq or october crisis, martial law was the rule, I was in Montreal, the SQ and the Montreal police, where the worse of all of them, you even looked at them crooked, and you would be picked up and beaten while been questioned for some of the most idiotic things...The military, though the power went to some heads, where mostly respectful, even defended some people against the abuse of the police.

Recently, some in the media, (sun news) have bowed to our illustrious leader about his standing up to Putin, even CPAC and other media outlet have tried to insult the Russian leader by spelling his name poutine(that been a Quebec delicacy, involving fries, cheese and gravy). This coming from someone who hid in a closet during that nut's attack on parliament hill and don't tell me the Russians don't know about it. Militarily or economically harper can't do anything about Ukraine and Russia, yet there it is, and what did Putin do, he just brushed him aside. With the coming election, I guess that will get him the Ukrainian vote in Canada, but that's it.
Harper, by his own words is trying to guide Canada to the right politically, but that is a loosing policy, what he is doing is making us look, ridiculous internationally, this is not harper's Canada, this is our Canada and he seem to have forgotten that. He also spent millions re-instating the word royal into our military and beyond, which was "his" personal imposition on the rest of us, taking us back into history instead of forward.

Choices and freedoms, in Canada and the western world are slowly been eroded, using the bad ol'terrorist threat as an excuse. We had the same, if not worse threat in the 70's, yet we never gave up our freedoms, I mean, that's what we where protecting in the first place...Freedoms are not protected by the state, it is defended and held on to by it's people, if we depend on the state and simply sit back and hope all will be well, what is happening today, with the erosions of freedom and been watched by so many state security apparatus, we will wake up someday and population control will be the least of our problems.

We might not agree with the links above, but they are there, we are becoming a laughing stock. We  had more clout as peacekeepers in world politics than we have now. We can't be taken seriously when our military is so small that we would loose a fight against Lichtenstein.(OK, I'm exaggerating but you get the point)

Politically, this site stays independent, sometimes it is beneficial to have the conservatives, sometimes the liberals. Either way, no political party has the right to try to change the values and the beliefs of the population of this country to benefit themselves. First of all it would never work, but most importantly, acting like the new "mouse that roared" is not exactly in our benefit if we are laughed at and ignored.

There was a time, when Canada spoke, we where listened to, not laughed at, or called a repressive country against it's people.
But that was a while ago.....
Let's hope we can get back our true identity before it's to late.

If you want to laugh here's one...
The bear, the raccoon, the pig, the pot plants, the media and the police...
