Is Danica Patrick in NASCAR because she's a woman or because she deserves it?

Danica Patrick is set to begin her second full year in NASCAR racing. She struggled mightily during her rookie season. In 36 starts she posted an average finish of 26.1, failed to finish five races due to accidents, and ranked 27th in the standings. Her lone top-10 came in the season-opening Daytona 500, where she placed eighth after NASCAR rigged qualifying to give her the pole position.

Patrick's struggles didn't go unnoticed by Champion Richard Petty. The seven-time Cup ...champion feels Patrick landed a premium ride with Stewart-Haas Racing solely because she's female, which she's leveraged to attract sponsorship. "If she'd have been a male, nobody would ever know if she'd showed up at a race track," Petty said according to Wheels.ca. "This is a female deal that's driving her." Richard Petty thinks the only way Danica Patrick will ever win a NASCAR race is if she's competing against herself.

"(Only) if everybody else stayed home," Petty said.
That said, if she is there because she is a woman and not because of her experience then poor weak woman needed help to boost her career...and that's not a good thing....sarcasm aside, she should be were she is because of her experience, not her gender, equality in this case must be based on qualification, otherwise it does not advance anyone, actually it makes her look like she need special help because she is a woman...not only that, she could put other drivers in jeopardy...
Personally, I like her, she is a fairly good driver, is she good enough for the nascar circuit, that's debatable...
To be fair, lets see what happens this year and hope no one gets killed, and that includes her, it is after all a very dangerous sport.
